Career Services

Career Services is a comprehensive operation where students are assisted with all levels of career advising and exploration. The professional staff members in Career Services help students take ownership of their career direction and encourage students to devote the time and energy necessary to conduct a successful search for jobs, internships, fellowships and/or graduate schools.

Generous gifts from students and parents from the Class of 1996, the Class of 1993, and Allied Signal Corporation have greatly enhanced the Center for Career Services. The Stanley Kinney Career Library offers students a spacious facility with a wide variety of information about campus interviews, resume referrals, career directories, job bulletins, internship resources, annual reports, resume and cover letter guides, and more. The Student Resource Room serves as a resume production and word processing center with campus-
networked computers. Students have access to the world wide web and the center’s job and internship databases.

Career Oppotunities

More than 200 organizations recruit Colgate students to fill a variety of career positions in areas such as advertising, communications, the arts, science and research, health, business, government, law, consulting, social change, human services, education, and more. Career services works closely to help students with graduate school exploration, and offers advising for those seeking Rhodes, Fulbright, Watson, Churchill, Marshall, Carnegie, and Truman fellowships or scholarships. It also advises those interested in postgraduate study, travel, and research.

Career Services spends a great deal of time with first-year, sophomore, and junior students to help with locating and applying for internships and summer jobs.
