Other university recreational facilities include the Harry Lang cross-country and fitness trails, Seven Oaks Golf Course (one of Golf Digest’s top five college courses), a trap range, the Eaton Street softball complex, a boat house on Lake Moraine two miles north of campus, and an outdoor equipment rental center.

Colgate’s facilities are open to visitors who are accompanied by a Colgate student. All facilities have certain restrictions and some require reservations.

Disability Services

Colgate encourages all students with disabilities to discuss their particular needs as soon as possible with Lynn Waldman, Director of Academic Program Support and Disability Services. Questions concerning what constitutes appropriate documentation, possible accommodations and services, confidentiality or any other matters of interest or concern are welcomed. Additional information and a list of campus resources are provided in a periwinkle blue brochure that is sent to all incoming students.

A Campus Access Committee comprised of administrators, faculty and student consultants meets regularly to devote ongoing campus-wide attention to disability issues.

Religious Life at Colgate

The Office of the University Chaplain provides opportunities for students to pursue an active religious life at Colgate. University congregations that worship weekly include the University Church (ecumenical Christian, mostly Protestant), the Newman Community (Roman Catholic), and the Jewish Community, all of which have ordained clergy on the staff of the Office of the Chaplain. The Muslim Student community meets weekly, and is supported by the University Chaplain. Colgate also has a chapter of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. All of these communities have dynamic programs and energetic student leadership. There are opportunities for prayer, worship, scriptural study, lectures, mission, service, and lively social events. Opportunities for interfaith dialogue are also offered.

Students whose needs are not met by these offerings may be assisted by the University Chaplain. Local Protestant and Catholic congregations also welcome students.

Chapel House, on the hillside above the campus, is a fully-endowed center for the study of the great religions of the world. Colgate also offers a full range of courses in the academic study of religion.
