Academic Calendar

• Web Registration: You can access Banner Web/Banner Self-Service via the Colgate University Portal (cu.colgate.edu).    You will also need to obtain your registration (alternate) PIN from your academic advisor.

• Registrar’s Office: The Registrar’s Office will be open for registration from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on November 7-10, and as needed on November 11.  You may come to the Registrar’s Office (126 McGregory) to be registered during or after your scheduled registration period. If you choose this option, you must present your completed Official Registration Form with your academic advisor’s signature or your registration PIN.

Prior to registration, you should verify your registration status for the Spring 2006 term by checking Banner Web or contacting the Registrar’s Office. If you have a hold on your record (e.g., accounts receivable hold, concentration hold, etc.), you will not be allowed to register until the hold is cleared.

Regardless of how you intend to register, you must meet with your academic advisor for pre-registration advising,  to obtain your registration PIN, and to have your registration form signed.  If your academic advisor is off-campus currently (i.e., leading a study group or on sabbatical/leave), you should meet with the chairperson of the advisor’s department or an interim advisor designated by the department.

Web Registration Dates

• Web registration will be active from the beginning of your scheduled registration time until January 13.

Web registration PIN

• The Colgate University Web Portal allows you to access Banner Web using your network (i.e., email) log in and password. 
  

• To register via Banner Web, you also need a registration PIN, which you must obtain from your faculty advisor.  The registration PIN permits access to the registration section of Banner Web, where you can create or revise your registration for the coming term.  Your Spring 2006 registration PIN is valid through January 13.
  
  

• IMPORTANT!  If you forget or lose your alternate PIN, you must come to the Registrar’s Office in person; bring your ID card and registration form with your academic advisor’s signature.

• All students in the class of 2007 were required to have an approved Declaration of Concentration on file in the Registrar’s Office by March 11, 2005.   Students who failed to submit an approved Declaration of Concentration form will be placed on  Concentration Hold and will not  be allowed to register for Spring 2006 courses.

Waitlists

• Prior to the start of drop/add, the Registrar’s Office will notify you of openings in courses for which you are waitlisted. After drop/add has begun, you must contact the instructor to be added to or waitlisted for a course.

• If you are signed into a course for which you were waitlisted, you must bring the instructor’s signature to the Registrar’s Office for processing prior to the end of drop/add  (See "DROP/ADD" below.)

• Drop/Add Day will be held on the afternoon of Sunday, January 22, in Huntington Gym.  Drop/add times are determined by class year.  Please refer to the Drop/Add Schedule below.   Students may drop and/or add courses through Wednesday, February 1.
   
• Students' official Schedule of Classes for drop/add will be in their campus mailboxes on the Friday before Drop/Add begins. 
   
• Any changes to the original schedule must be made during the drop/add period by securing the dated signature of the faculty member teaching the course.  The instructor’s signature is required both to drop and to add a course. 
   
• Important!!  The signed and dated Schedule of Classes must be submitted in person to the Office of the Registrar in McGregory Hall by February 1, the end of the Drop/Add period.   Changes requested after the end of the drop/add period must be reviewed by the Registrar and the student's Administrative Adviser and, if approved, subject to a $40 late registration fee.
   
• Faculty will maintain their own class lists—including all adds, drops, and waitlist changes—after drop/add begins.   If you want to know the availability of seats in a given class, you should contact the instructor, who will have the most current and accurate enrollment numbers. Students who are interested in a course should go to the course on the first day of classes (Monday, January 23) and/or the first full class period. In addition, students are advised to speak with the instructor before or after the class meets or during office hours rather than sending email or phoning.
   
• Students may not add and/or drop courses themselves using Banner Web.  All changes must be processed by the Office of the Registrar.

• Students in the classes of 2006 and 2007 who wish to take a course on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis must fill out an "S/U Course Declaration Form" in the Office of the Registrar during the drop/add period.  No changes in grading option may be made after the February 1 deadline.

• Seniors in their final semester should not take a course using the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory Grade Option unless they will have a total of 32 courses without the S/U course.
