Health Sciences Office

The Health Sciences office is located in 327 Olin Hall and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- At this location students are welcomed to browse through the catalogues, brochures and posters of various health professional schools; view cd-roms from medical, dental, veterinary, osteopathic, and other health profession schools; pick up registration packets for VCAT's, OAT's, as well as  AADSAS, and VMCAS applications. A medical internship program, which runs each semester, is offered through this office. There are presently 21 area physicians participating. Students interested in pursuing a career in the health professions are encouraged to sign-up for this valuable health-care experience. We have doctors in family practice, cardiology, radiology, opthalmology, ob/gyn, emergency medicine, osteopathic medicine, orthopedic surgery, urology, pathology, and oral surgery that participate.

All juniors and seniors who are planning to apply to a health professional school MUST fill out a Summary Sheet, Waiver Forms and a Transcript Request Form. These are only available in the Health Sciences Office. The DEADLINE for receipt of completed Summary Sheets is February. A student's file will not be considered active until the completed Summary Sheet is received. Once this is submitted, an interview with one of the Committee Members will be assigned. In the meantime, requested individual letters of recommendation should be arriving in the office to be included with each student's file. A composite committee letter will not be written for anyone that has failed to submit a completed Summary Sheet, Waiver Forms, Trancript, and individual letters of recommendation.

A useful website for those planning to apply to medical school would be the AAMC Hompage. Here you will find information about the MCAT and AMCAS applications under Student, Applicant & Advisor Information.
