COLGATE UNIVERSITY—TEACHING & RESEARCH POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP The Department of Chemistry at Colgate University seeks applications for a teaching & research postdoctoral fellowship starting Fall 2010. The fellowship is intended for a recent Ph.D. recipient in any area of chemistry or biochemistry interested in pursuing an academic career in both teaching and research. This is a full-time, two-year position with duties equally divided between teaching and research during the academic year, and full-time research during the summer months. The teaching component will include a mentored experience in general chemistry and additional courses appropriate for the specialty of the applicant. The Jewish Studies Program and the History Department jointly invite applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Jewish History beginning in the 2010-2011 academic year. Scholars in all fields of Jewish history except Middle East history are encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in History is preferred but Ph.D.s in Jewish Studies will also be considered. The fellow will participate in the intellectual life of the Jewish Studies program and the History Department, teaching three courses over two terms. These courses will probably include a pertinent survey course and a history course in the fellow’s area of expertise.  In the second year, the fellow will teach four courses; depending on area of expertise, one of these might be course in the University's Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. This position carries a salary of $42,000 with full benefits, some research/ travel support, and a modest events budget.   The Schusterman Teaching Fellowship is part of the Jewish Studies Expansion Program (JSEP), a new initiative that aims to provide greater opportunity for Jewish learning at participating colleges and universities.  Successful applicants will be dynamic individuals with excellent academic credentials and a desire to raise the visibility of Jewish studies and cultural events on campus and beyond.  JSEP is an initiative of the Foundation for Jewish Culture, supported by the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation and the Jim Joseph Foundation.
