Introduction

This guide is a selective annotated bibliography of the texts, directories, and periodicals available to grant seekers at Colgate University. Some of the texts included are intended to help people formulate strategy for obtaining financial support; others are directories of corporations, foundations, government agencies, and their specific giving programs. Underlined titles are linked to Mondo or to online sources. Additional pamphlets and articles, too numerous to be listed, are on file at the Office of Corporate, Foundation, and Government Relations (Grants Office) in James B. Colgate Hall.

The first volume lists nearly 5,000 titles in the Foundation Center's collection. The 1990 edition, Vol. 2, includes all the Foundation Center titles acquired after the 1989 publication, as well as other current literature.

A directory of nearly 1,000 leading private foundations. Listed alphabetically, each entry includes a short description of the foundation, and relevant information such as addresses, contacts, officers and directors, and lists of sample grants.

Lists over 32,000 non-profit organizations registered with the Internal Revenue Service as private foundations. Organizations are divided by state and arranged by size of grant in descending order. An alphabetical listing of foundations is also included. Excellent resource for researching smaller foundations not included in other directories.
