The Iota chapter of the Theta Chi fraternity has
recently rededicated itself to academics. Last fall,
the fraternity had the second highest GPA of all fraternities,
with a GPA of 3.10, 0.05 above the all-male average.
This is a rise of 0.12 from the previous fall, higher
than any other Colgate fraternity over the same time
period. This rise can be attributed to several changes
both physically and philosophically within the house.
The house library has recently undergone renovations
making it more conducive to studying. In addition,
during the new member education process, new members
have library hours three days a week, where they can
maintain the tradition of educational excellence of
Theta Chi. In the future, Theta Chi aims to continue
to be above the all-male average, but has also set
loftier goals for the fraternity. Theta Chi had 43%
of the brotherhood earning Dean’s List honors
in the fall of 2002, a higher percentage than any
other fraternity. While proud of this accomplishment,
Theta Chi has challenged its members to have over
50% of the brotherhood earning Dean’s List honors.
