| IFC Statement on Scholarship Greek men, in addition to all the other ways that they contribute to life at Colgate University, take pride in their academic accomplishments. Traditionally, the GPA for IFC member Greek organizations has been higher than the all male average GPA for Colgate University. Each student entering Colgate University has the primary goal of obtaining an education and a degree. The IFC and individual IFC member chapters are serious about promoting education in all aspects of life. Fraternities at Colgate provide a strong academic environment for their members. The ability to study with fellow fraternity men allows for academic achievement not seen in many other University organizations. High academic achievement is certainly one of our most important goals, but along with academics, there are many aspects of educating young men in life that the IFC promotes. IFC member chapters often host speakers on topics ranging from substance abuse to homophobia. The IFC is aware of the many issues that face young men at Colgate University and believes that their educational programs make them more enlightened members of the Colgate community and the community at large. |
