Andrea Bross,  Ph.D.

I am beginning my third year at Colgate and am very excited to be working with such a terrific group of students. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Duke University, and received my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. I think I always knew I wanted to be a psychologist, and completed my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Vanderbilt University in 1995.

I have worked in counseling centers for five years, and I am particularly interested in college mental health. I enjoy working with the issues that come up during the college years, including eating and body image concerns, gender and multicultural issues, relationship and interpersonal struggles, career issues, perfectionism, and self-confidence/self-esteem. My approach to working with students is integrative, and draws from interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and existential theory. I enjoy working collaboratively with students and value adapting my approach depending on a student’s needs.

On a personal note, my husband and I are both originally from a small town in Connecticut and are delighted to be back in the northeast. We have three cats that are truly the biggest cats I’ve ever seen, and we just added a Beagle puppy to our family.  In our free time we enjoy movies, Broadway, kayaking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Of course now that we have a puppy free time is probably a thing of the past!
