Fellowship
Requirements:
-
Participate in
on-campus orientation meetings in March and April
-
Draft a
concise “action plan” designed to facilitate the following goals:
-
Initiate and
sustain productive contact with the supervisor(s) prior to and during the
internship
-
Clarify
logistics
-
Demonstrate
an understanding of the mission, key initiatives and salient issues facing
the organization (utilize resources like the Annual Report, press packet,
web-site, article search, conversations with former Manzi fellows)
-
Establish
working goals and expectations of the internship (daily work
responsibilities, training, degree of autonomy, direct client contact or
behind-the-scenes work, etc.)

Compile a list
of journal articles, books and other resources related to the mission and
work of the sponsor organization
-
Read assigned
articles, books, and/or films prior and during internship
-
Maintain a
journal for personal reflection throughout the internship
-
Submit a
one-page mid-summer status report via e-mail to the Manzi Coordinator at the
Center for Career Services
-
Participate in
at least 4 discussion groups with the other Manzi fellows during the 10 week
fellowship, to be coordinated by an on-site volunteer/former Manzi fellow.
Each fellow will be expected to present a short presentation on the mission
and work of their organization and their own specific experience.

With
permission, take photographs and obtain work product (if applicable) for
portfolio

Submit a final
written report of up to 5 pages to Jim Manzi c/o The Center for Career
Services at Colgate University by September 1
-
Participate in
post-fellowship activities including panels, luncheons, and
pre-orientation/individual contact with future Manzi fellows
