Interviews

Fikreta Andelijo is a Bosnian refugee who has resided in Utica, NY for 6 1/2 years.  She is a nurse at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.   Fikreta was originally from Sarajevo and then moved to Croatia. 

Dolores Gulowski is a Patient Registrar at Bassett- St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency Program.

Lidija Hamzic is a Bosnian woman who currently teaches ESL (English as a Second Language) courses at Proctor High School in Utica, New York. 

Fatmir Hiseni is a 31-year-old Bosnian male.  He has lived in Utica for 2 years, where he works as a trained interpreter.  Prior to moving to the United States, Fatmir was a refugee in Germany for 6 years. 

Marcella Lee works as a social worker in Utica, NY.

Ralph Leo, Jr. is a case worker for the Department of Social Services (DSS) in Utica, NY.  Ralph works out of Proctor High School, where he interacts with a diverse student population.  Over 50 languages are spoken throughout the hallways of Proctor!   Some of Ralph's cases this year have been Bosnian youth.

Vesna Sin has lived as a Bosnian refugee in the United States for 2 1/2 years.  She works as a Bosnian Community Organizer. 

Saban Tahirovic is a male Bosnian refugee who works in Herkimer, NY, at the mill.   Saban has resided in Utica for the past 3 1/2 years.
