In many ways, Russians and Americans have a similar approach to children's health care. Both groups understand the importance of immunizations to prevent illness, and will take their child to see a health care professional if seriously ill.

However, Russians believe that most illnesses are caused by cold. They make sure that their children are dressed warmly, especially in cold weather, and discourage their children from ingesting chilled foods and beverages.
