International Student Admission

Colgate University welcomes inquiries and applications from international students studying abroad and in the United States. Colgate is a small, highly-selective liberal arts college with a current enrollment of 2,750 men and women from 48 states, the District of Columbia, two US territories and 27 foreign countries. The campus is situated on a 515-acre hillside in the town of Hamilton in scenic central New York. Hamilton (population 2,500) is reminiscent of a New England village with old homes, tree-lined streets, a college inn, coffee house, movie theater, small shops, and municipal services. Village residents are active in Colgate activities, and there is an easy, friendly relationship between town and college. Rural areas surround Hamilton. Syracuse is within a one-hour drive and has an airport servicing several major airlines. New York City is southeast and is a four-hour drive from Colgate. The majority of students enter Colgate directly after completing secondary school education in the United States. International students typically comprise a very active four percent of the student population each year.
