Colgate University welcomes inquiries and applications from international students
studying abroad and in the United States. Colgate is a small, highly-selective
liberal arts college with a current enrollment of 2,750 men and women from
48 states, the District of Columbia, two US territories and 27 foreign countries.
The campus is situated on a 515-acre hillside in the town of Hamilton in scenic central New
York. Hamilton (population 2,500) is reminiscent of a New England village with old
homes, tree-lined streets, a college inn, coffee house, movie theater, small shops, and
municipal services. Village residents are active in Colgate activities, and there is an
easy, friendly relationship between town and college. Rural areas surround Hamilton.
Syracuse is within a one-hour drive and has an airport servicing several major airlines.
New York City is southeast and is a four-hour drive from Colgate. The majority of students
enter Colgate directly after completing secondary school education in the United States.
